Look who's 2 already!

It's hard to believe that Owen is already 2!  It doesn't seem like an entire year has passed since we were celebrating his first birthday.  In the past year though, he definitely has grown and changed a lot and in the past few months has seemed to become a little boy; in many ways he seems a lot more than just a year older.  He has become a little chatter box and talks all day long. He is very independent and likes to do everything himself and also insists on doing everything that his big brother does (like riding a bike)!
(he takes the job of riding his new bike very seriously)

For his birthday, we had a little sports-themed party with his friends from our building.

He was so excited about it and for the days leading up to it, he walked around saying 'my party' and practised singing 'happy birthday'.  At his party, he was the perfect host as he gave all of his friends a kiss and hug goodbye.
He loved opening his presents, playing with all of his new toys and reading his new books.

Goodbye summer, hello school

We spent the last weekend before school having fun in our own backyard.

We went for one last splash in the wading pool,

did some serious playing at the playground,

had an intense game of tag at Music Garden

and watched the airshow.

This year the first day of school was much different than any other.  No longer was I the only one in our house going back to school in September.  Josh started Junior Kindergarten (JK) and goes every afternoon.
JK has been a big hit for Josh and after a week, the novelty hasn't worn off.  When I picked him up on his first day, he said to me 'I get to go to kindergarten everyday, right?'.  On the second day, he said to me 'thanks for signing me up for kindergarten', thinking that it's like soccer or swimming - too cute.
I'm loving hearing about his day and all the fun things he does each day.
(very proud of his new big boy backpack)

Only 6 weeks of school for me this year (or less if baby comes early)!

Ontario Place

We have the luxury of living a short walk from Ontario Place.  Ontario Place is a mixed bag of fun.  It has rides, a waterpark, waterslides, mini-golf and live shows.  We decided that since we live so close to it and there are so many things for the kids to do there, we would invest in a season's pass.  Well, we have definitely gotten our $ worth.  I must admit that Mike and I have just as much fun there as the boys do.

Bob the Builder put on a great show and much to Josh's delight, he got to meet Bob after the show.

Josh and I went mini golfing and he got a hole in one!

The serious work of peddle boating.

Much to Owen's delight, there were a few rides that he was big enough to go on.  When waiting in line, he would point excitedly and say 'ride' over and over again.

The boys loved watching the acrobat show.  They saw it atleast 5 times but never got bored.  I would have to agree that it was a pretty impressive show.
